In this Master's degree programme, you will learn about the state of the art in the various specialised fields of ecology, evolutionary research and scientific nature conservation. The programme is research-oriented and concentrates on a broad spectrum of modern research methods, with a supplementary focus on application aspects. This research-oriented Master’s degree programme focuses on organismic biology, meaning “entire” organisms, their reciprocal interactions, and their relationship to the abiotic environment. A broad array of module courses range from the theoretical foundations of ecology and evolution to their application in such fields as sustainability research or species conservation. The courses within a module (lectures, seminars, tutorials, internships) cover the entire spectrum from aquatic and plant ecology to animal ecology and biodiversity research, to molecular and organismic evolutionary biology, to scientific nature conservation. Your education will focus on learning the current state of knowledge in the various fields of specialisation as well as a broad spectrum of methodologies in the laboratory, in field studies, and computer-supported modelling. Small learning groups enable early and individualised contact to our broadly skilled instructors.
A GCQ360 counsellor can help you with eligibility, documents, and your application timeline.

There are several student dormitories in Potsdam. These are administered exclusively by Brandenburg's Association for Student Affairs ("Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg"). You can apply for a room in one of these dormitories if you are under the age of 30. If you are a Master's student, you can only apply if the degree at the University of Potsdam is your first Master's programme. However, many students prefer to find an apartment in Potsdam or Berlin, which they often share with fellow students. The housing market is very tight, so please start looking for an accommodation as early as possible. For information on how to register for a dorm room or find accommodation elsewhere, please click here.
