Work is counted in days, not hours. You get 140 full days or 280 half days a year, raised from 120/240 on 1 March 2024 — and semester-break work comes out of the same allowance rather than being unlimited. After graduating you get up to 18 months to look for qualified work, with no restriction on what you do in the meantime. Settle into a graduate job and you can apply for permanent residence after 2 years plus 24 months of pension contributions, which is the fastest route of any major destination.
