The New Study Computer Science Bachelor’s programme at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) combines academic excellence with real-world experience. This fully online, English-taught programme prepares you for the challenges of the digital age by blending technology, business and intercultural competence. Over three years (six semesters), you will gain in-depth knowledge of computer science programming web and software engineering databases artificial intelligence mathematics theoretical informatics At the same time, you will develop essential skills such as project management, teamwork and communication as well as working in distributed teams. The programme involves about three-monthly theoretical online study terms, which alternate with practical internship terms of about the same length. It is organised in different modules consisting of learning units that are either compulsory or elective components of your schedule. What we teach Our curriculum puts a strong emphasis on mathematics and data science, and algorithms alongside a progressive path in programming: First year: You’ll start with scientific programming, web engineering, and Java programming. Second and third year: You’ll deepen your expertise with software engineering and advanced software engineering along with databases. Students with German language skills and the ability to travel may also select electives offered in Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. Of course, New Study offers its own online, English electives as well. We welcome students from any DHBW location into our electives. We also incorporate design thinking, user experience (UX), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the programme. AI tools are actively integrated into programming, writing, and other courses. Students learn not only with AI, but they also learn how to use it effectively and responsibly.
