It has five sections and 55 questions in total: one 30 minute Analytical Writing task, two Verbal Reasoning sections (12 questions in 18 minutes and 15 questions in 23 minutes) and two Quantitative Reasoning sections (12 questions in 21 minutes and 15 questions in 26 minutes).
ETS publishes the GRE General Test fee for India as 25,522 INR. Rescheduling or changing your test centre costs 5,650 INR, and each Additional Score Report costs 4,150 INR. Fees are revised periodically, so confirm the current amount on the ETS India site before you pay.
Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning are each reported from 130 to 170 in 1 point increments, so the combined total runs from 260 to 340. Analytical Writing is reported separately from 0 to 6 in half point increments and is not added into the Verbal and Quantitative total.

Yes, the GRE at home option is available to Indian test takers. It is the same test with the same content, scoring and timing, delivered on your own computer under live remote human proctoring, provided your equipment, internet connection and room meet the ETS requirements.
You can take the GRE General Test once every 21 days, up to five times in any continuous rolling 12 month period. This limit applies whether you test at a centre or at home, and it applies even if you cancelled your scores on an earlier attempt.
ScoreSelect lets you choose which test administrations to send to each institution rather than sending your entire history. If you retake the GRE, you can send only your best attempt, so an earlier weaker score need not reach your target universities.
Most business schools now accept both, so the choice depends on your strengths. The GRE suits candidates who are also applying to MS or PhD programmes, while the GMAT is purpose built for business school and its Data Insights section rewards data interpretation skills.
